  • Himadri Nath

    Postdoc

A virology enthusiast from the vibrant state of West Bengal, India. In the realm of leisure, I find solace in walking amidst green, enjoying movies and music. I find great pleasure in delving into the latest developments in the ever-evolving domain of virology. Having embarked on a scholarly journey, I pursued my doctoral research at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, India. During my doctoral tenure, I studied clinical dengue viruses, exploring the fascinating interplay of serological cross-reactivity between dengue and the formidable SARS-CoV-2. At LBRI, I shall be looking into the unwavering concern for the influenza virus and its intricate interactions with its host.

  • Mike Ohman

    Postdoc

I am originally from Inver Grove Heights, MN, and in my free time, I enjoy picking up heavy things and putting them back down (weight lifting), as well as reading and binging shows. I completed a Doctor of Pharmacy at Drake University but changed trajectories and got interested in virology as a career. I completed my PhD in the lab of Rob Kalejta at the University of Wisconsin-Madison working on Human cytomegalovirus before entering into the exciting world of influenza.

  • Etienne Martinez Gonzalez

    Undergraduate

I am part of the combined UNM BA/MD program. I am majoring in Biochemistry and aiming to be a physician and work in New Mexico. I am very enthusiastic about science in general, and chemistry specifically. I consider that to be a better doctor it is important to understand the pathogen’s biology rather than just memorizing the disease they cause. I am very excited to learn about viruses and genetics while experiencing the reality of a research laboratory.

  • Jillian Merrifield

    Undergraduate

I am working towards dual degrees in Biology and Global and National Security Studies at UNM, and I will be graduating this May. I have had some research experience in ecological restoration, but I have been interested in biomedical research since I began my undergraduate education during the pandemic in 2020. When I am not studying, I like to hike, rock climb, or stay at home with a good book or movie.
